Bohunt’s packed Careers Fair ensures students get ahead

On Tuesday 15 November, over 550 students from Bohunt School, along with their parents, attended the school’s 4th Careers Fair. The aim of the event was to ensure that Bohunt students have thought about and prepared for further education and/or the world of work. Neil Strowger, Headteacher said:

"We offer outstanding opportunities for students to develop at Bohunt; for example, in the last year, nearly one hundred students completed their Bronze DofE, 22 students have spent three weeks in Greenland, our sports leaders have run lunchtime activities for Liphook Junior School and our Year 11s left us with an outstanding set of GCSE results. The reason our students achieve so much is that they are intrinsically motivated to get involved with after-school clubs, as well as their work, because they understand the benefits of achieving their potential and standing out, this careers-fair is one of the key ways in which they gain that awareness.”

Businesses such as Virgin Media, Whitbread, Sainsburys and Lloyds Bank, all the local Colleges and Universities, the Forces and various training providers were there to offer advice and guidance about their own individual training opportunities, as well as give away lots of free stationery! There were excellent comments from these providers including:

“I thought the fair was brilliant – great to have so many parents there, and I thought your students were great flag bearers for Bohunt School…. Asking all the right questions and genuinely interested!”

“The students really took the event seriously – a lot of in-depth questions”

“Your students represented the school really well at what was an excellent event, one of the best that I have attended”.

Organiser, Ginny Green, said: “It was a fantastic event. We have surpassed ourselves this year and look forward to even more exhibitors attending next year.”
