Bohunt Sixth Form Wows with Record-Breaking Open Evening

Last Thursday, Bohunt Sixth Form welcomed its largest ever crowd to its annual Autumn Open Evening.

Over 400 prospective students and their parents attended the evening, eager to see the impressive Sixth Form building and learn all about Bohunt Sixth’s immersive study and enrichment programmes.

Clare Hodgson, Head of Bohunt Sixth Form, and Neil Strowger, Headteacher of Bohunt School, gave a series of informal talks aimed at future students who might be considering joining for years 12 and 13. Students and parents were keen to hear about life at Bohunt Sixth Form, the transition to higher education and the courses and programmes available.

A level students demonstrated typical apparatus and experiment examples

The Sixth Form’s current cohort of students shared their experiences and gave advice on what Bohunt Sixth Form has to offer and choosing what to study post-16. Each subject was represented by expert teaching staff, offering information and advice. Talented music students performed unique compositions, written especially for the visitors, whilst Science, Art and Humanities departments dazzled visitors with A level experiments, fine art and sculpture, essay writing and critiques. The Sixth Form library showcased the wonderful study facilities and outstanding resources available to support students.

Clare Hodgson, Head of Bohunt Sixth Form said,

“We are thrilled that so many have come to see us this evening. Taking the time to visit the Sixth Form is an important part of a considered approach to further education and is vital to help students make informed choices about their future. Bohunt Sixth Form offers students wishing to take their next step towards university or a career the perfect balance between a personalised learning environment, high standards and enjoyment whilst learning. The wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer is designed to stimulate the development of the whole person as they work towards realising their goals. Life at Bohunt Sixth Form is inspiring, supportive and ambitious, the proof being our outstanding first set of results this Summer, where 35% of all our students achieved A*-A grades – 10% above the national average”.

Neil Strowger, Headteacher of Bohunt School and Sixth Form said,

“We were delighted that so many new students and their parents visited us for our Autumn Open Evening this year. As our first set of A level results demonstrate, Bohunt Sixth Form offers students the opportunity to study in an environment which puts learning and achievement at the heart of our ethos. We are the top state further education provider in the local area, and evenings such as these are an ideal way for visitors to see the academic and extra-curricular activities available to students”.
