Well-being

Bohunt is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our students. If you have any particular concerns regarding your child’s emotional health and wellbeing, please contact enquiries@bohunt.hants.sch.uk to be put in touch with your child’s tutor or Head of House. If you have a safeguarding concern or query at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us and ask for the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mr Pittaway, Head of School.

The range of links and resources outlined on this page is by no means exhaustive. We would welcome feedback and recommendations of additional information that parents and carers have themselves found useful and supportive.

Should you wish to provide any feedback please email enquiries@bohunt.hants.sch.uk and title your email EHWB Web Page.

Thank you for your continued support with keeping our children safe and happy.

Self Harm

All our Achievement Co-Ordinators and Senior Achievement Co-Ordinators receive yearly training specifically about providing effective pastoral care to young people who are at risk of self-harm. Our Safeguarding Leads work closely with our pastoral leaders to ensure that there is a robust and effective support network for those young people who need it.

Self Harming Helping Your Child Reduce Self-Harming Behaviour What’s Worrying You about Your Child Self Harming. Positive Parenting Tips
Eating Disorders

Our Welfare Team, Gillian Tanton and Gemma Ward, work closely with our School Nurse and Pastoral Administrator to provide effective support to those children with additional medical needs. We continue to promote healthy eating on school site and continue to seek ways to identify and support any children who we feel may need it in school.

Eating disorders are often blamed on the social pressure to be thin, as young people in particular feel they should look a certain way. However, the causes are usually more complex.

An eating disorder may be associated with biological, genetic or environmental factors combined with a particular event that triggers the disorder. There may also be other factors that maintain the illness.

On-line Safety and Social Media Use

We write to you regularly about new apps and social media websites that come to our attention and pose a potential threat to the safety of young people, and we will continue to do so.

We also speak with all parents and carers at the Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening every year specifically about supporting your child by keeping them safe online.

Adults

CEOP is a command of the National Crime Agency and is dedicated to tackling the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and young people. CEOP helps children and young people under the age of 18 who have been forced or manipulated into taking part, or are being pressured to take part, in sexual activity of any kind. This can be both online and offline. The CEOP Safety Centre offers information and advice for children and young people, parents and carers and professionals. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button.
Online bullying or other online concerns should not be reported to CEOP and children and young people should be directed to speak to an adult they trust, and/or referred to Childline, if they would like to speak to someone about how they are feeling.

100% attendance for Student with no missed school days

I joined Bohunt School in September 2011 as a Newly Qualified teacher. From the start, my Head of Department and mentor encouraged me to break out of my comfort zone and get involved in all aspects of school life.

One of my favourite subjects at Bohunt is Dance. Being able to carry this on during GCSEs was a real advantage. I started dancing aged three: I was born into it as my older sisters always did it.

My motto is that we can all achieve something brilliant and we can all make a difference – and that is the same message I get from Bohunt. I’m not the most outgoing student and I’m not the most confident but that has not hindered me from having so many wonderful opportunities!
