This week students at Bohunt and TPS travelled to Portsmouth Guildhall to compete in this year’s Rock Challenge UK, an annual event organised by Be Your Best Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that encourages young people to make positive life choices and be their best without the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.
The Expressive Arts and dance department were incredibly proud of all students involved in the Rock Challenge performance. Students from all year groups presented their dance piece based upon ‘A Tale of Tombstone Arizona’, which told the historic story of the boomtown, bursting with saloons, banks and gambling halls all sitting above silver mines in the Midwest USA. The judges were incredibly impressed with the performances of all characters ( they loved the cactus and barrel dancers!) and presented the school with a total of 7 awards, including choreography, set design and visual enhancement.
The feedback from other schools and audience members was fantastic and left students feeling incredibly proud and positive. Dance teacher Elizabeth Richards said,” Students should feel a huge sense of achievement for the confidence, teamwork and pure talent which they displayed both on the night and during rehearsals leading up to the event.”
