What is a Pupil Premium student?

Pupil Premium students are those who:

• are currently eligible for Free School Meals, or have been within the past six years;
  
• were previously looked after by a local authority or adopted from state care;
  
• have a parent currently serving in the Armed Forces, or have been registered as a ‘service child’ on the school census within the past six years (Service Pupil Premium).

What does this mean?
The Pupil Premium grant is provided to schools to help improve outcomes for students. While it is specifically allocated for eligible pupils, it can also be used for wider interventions that benefit all students, ensuring high-quality teaching and additional support where it is most needed.

How does this affect my child?
At Bohunt, we use the Pupil Premium grant to:

• strengthen high-quality teaching;
• provide targeted academic support;
• remove non-academic barriers to learning;
• Provide financial assistance when necessary.

We also welcome donations of unused uniform, books, equipment or revision resources. These will be distributed by the Student Champions to students who would most benefit. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

What should I do if I think my child is eligible?

• First, please check with your child’s form tutor to see if they are already recorded as Pupil Premium.
• If you believe your child may be eligible, you can check using this link with just your National Insurance number. This is a very quick process and always worth checking. 
• If your child meets the criteria for Service Pupil Premium but is not yet recorded as such, please let us know by emailing us at studentchampion@bohunt.hants.sch.uk.
