Good careers guidance can support students in making informed choices regarding their next steps, this includes but is not limited to option choices in year 8, post 16 plans and higher education/ post 18 choices. We support our students in this process by providing access to differentiated impartial and independent information and guidance about the range of options and opportunities that are most likely to help them to achieve their ambitions. We believe that giving students the best careers education and guidance is vital to improving their motivation to learn and help them to achieve.
We follow the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Careers Guidance including adhering to the Baker Clause of the Education Act. All students at Bohunt School and Sixth Form are entitled to and able to access a Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme that:
Provides high-quality independent careers advice which inspires, motivates and meets the needs of each individual in order to fulfil their potential. The guidance given will ensure that students are aware of academic, technical and vocational routes available at each transition point.
Contributes to the raising of student achievements by encouraging them to develop high aspirations and consider a broad and ambitious range of careers whilst also encouraging them to see career development as a life-long process
Provides opportunities throughout KS3, KS4 and KS5 for students to work in meaningful partnerships with employers, training providers, local colleges and others to support their personal development and next steps and the world of work
Develops enterprise and employability skills including skills for self-employment, leadership and teamwork
Develops students’ skills and knowledge of careers including career management skills and knowledge of the local labour market (LMI);
Supports inclusion, challenge stereotyping and promote equality of opportunity
Supports social mobility by improving opportunities for all students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs and disabilities
Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) is designed to break down the sometimes complex “world of work”. LMI includes descriptions of different careers, their entry routes, promotional prospects, salaries paid, skills and qualifications needed, etc.
LMI is specific to each region within England and aims to identify future career demand – what kinds of jobs will be in demand after leaving school and what kinds of skills will be needed.

Earlier this year Seb competed in for Great Britain in both Norway and France. He was not only selected for the U17 GB Rock Climbing Team despite being only 14, but he also earned podium finishes at the national championships and has reached multiple finals overs the years.

James is a core member of Bohunt School’s Expressive Arts department and attends every single club in the department. His interests continue outside school. He plays the trombone with the Hampshire County Training Band and has been in musical theatre productions of Les Mis, Anything Goes, Footloose, Legally Blonde, Oliver and Oklahoma.

Under Mr Duggan’s supervision Bohunt’s Psychology Department has gone from strength to strength. Following excellent GCSE results he was approached by the examination board to write a blog. In the wake of that Bohunt was selected as a GCSE Psychology Ambassador Centre.
