Bohunt School celebrates another year of outstanding GCSE results

Record breaking GCSE results

Students at Bohunt School, part of the high achieving Bohunt Education Trust (BET), are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next stage of their education journey.

Records tumble every year at Bohunt School, and this year was no exception, with 95% of students passing English GCSE, a notable new high. Hot on the heels of exceptional A Level results last week, the GCSE cohort of 2026 has set the bar incredibly high for those that follow.

Bohunt students have, once again, made outstanding progress, with close to 90% achieving a grade 4 (the old grade C), or above, in both English and maths!  Additionally, almost 40% of all the grades awarded to students at Bohunt were at the top grade: 7 to 9 level.

We are proud of all of our students’ achievements which are being celebrated across the board. Particular highlights include:

  • Adam who achieved a remarkable set of results with Grade 9s in every subject
  • Lara who achieved an impressive 9 Grade 9s and a Grade 8 in sociology
  • Zoe and William who achieved a fantastic set of GCSEs with 8 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s across their subjects. With David achieving his Grade 9 in Mandarin in Year 9, as part of our language immersion programme.
  • David achieved an incredible 9 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s overall. With a Grade 9 in Mandarin achieved in Year 9, as part of our language immersion programme and another Grade 9 from Statistics in Year 10!
  • Damon did incredibly well with 9 grade 9s (two grade 9s last year and the year before). He also passed DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française), and achieved a grade 8 in biology and 7 in English literature.
  • Phoebe who plays for Brighton and Hove Football Club, managed her studies and sporting commitments admirably, gaining 5 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s and a Grade 7 in her subjects.

This year’s accomplishments are a hallmark of both our heritage and our  ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ ethos, which underpins our positive culture and sense of belonging. This includes delivering unparalleled educational opportunities and highly effective teaching to nurture and develop students into becoming “game-changers”.

Together, Bohunt School and BET aim to support young people to flourish throughout their school journey and then beyond into later life, with educational, enrichment and pastoral support both inside and outside the classroom.

Lucy Broad and Hannah Green, Co-Heads said:

“We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and the journey they have taken with us, we are thrilled to be celebrating with them today. These results reflect the dedication and passion of the students, teachers and our wider community here at Bohunt. It is wonderful to see our students’ hard work, resilience and ambition rewarded. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for this brilliant cohort of young people who are the game-changers of the future!”

Neil Strowger, Headteacher and Trust Leader at BET, said:

“I am immensely proud of the efforts made by students across our schools. It really is exceptional to witness record results this year given the long tradition of the highest outcomes. These GCSE results are testament to their hard work, dedication and resilience. Our commitment to ensuring the achievement of every student has led to these outcomes, which reflect the game-changing abilities of our students and staff and the excellence we strive for across BET.”
